Course Overview
The Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment VTAA recognises the equivalent of Level 3 knowledge and skills for technicians who do not hold a formal qualification.
The accreditation enables motor vehicle technicians who have worked in their roles for four or more years to prove their capabilities at Level 3.
The VTAA is a requirement for technicians without a Level 3 qualification who wish to progress to the Level 2 Awards in MOT Testing and DVSA Certificate of Competence to begin conducting MOT tests under the new DVSA requirements.
The accreditation will enable the candidate to:
- Demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills expected of someone working at level 3
- Demonstrate that they meet the Motor Vehicle Level 3 National Occupational Standards
- Enrol onto an MOT Tester qualification in order for them to become qualified to conduct MOT Inspections without holding a regulated level 3 qualification

Evidence to demonstrate three years’ experience will need to be provided on your course application.
MOTQM VTAA course is an assessment-only course over a two-day period, any applicants would need to have extensively studied the online e learning material and practised all required practical pre-course training before attending the course.
